PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform communication between a camera and an external apparatus using the essential components of the camera. SOLUTION: The inventive camera 1 receives a designation of test operation from an external apparatus 2 by receiving light therefrom using a light receiving element for AF, i.e., a photodiode 13, and transmits the operational results to the external apparatus 2 by emitting light from a light emitting element for AF, i.e., an infrared LED 15.
