PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processor and a method for image processing which can easily acquire composition information at low cost. SOLUTION: A digital still camera 100 which obtains image information by photographing a subject and processes and records the image information is equipped with a shutter button 9a for longitudinal composition which is used to photograph a subject with longitudinal composition and a shutter button 9b for lateral composition which is used to photograph a subject with lateral composition. Then which of the shutter button 9a for longitudinal composition and it is detected that the shutter button 9b for lateral composition is used for photography and detection information is used to perform image processing.
