PURPOSE: A method for operating a memory of an optical disk recorder/reproducer is provided to divide the memory into many regions, and to move to a next region whenever discontinuous commands are generated, then to store corresponding data as managing information on the divided regions, thereby improving performance of the optical disk recorder/reproducer. CONSTITUTION: An optical disk recorder/reproducer divides a memory into many regions. If read or write commands are continuously generated, the reproducer continuously records corresponding data in the regions of the memory in order, and stores information on the regions. If the read or the write commands are discontinuously or alternately generated, the reproducer records the data from a next region of an ongoing region, and stores information on a just previous region and information on a new region.
