PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling an information processing system of a portable terminal are provided to archive user setup data, when turning off the power of the portable terminal, and operate the portable terminal according to the user setup data. CONSTITUTION: A DRAM(Dynamic RAM)(300) stores data set by a user and an operated program when a terminal is operated. A flash memory(200) stores the data stored in the DRAM(300) when a main power of the terminal is turned off and a backup command of the user is inputted. A CPU(100) judges whether the main power of the terminal is turned off and the backup command of the user is inputted, and backs up the data stored in the DRAM(300) to the flash memory(200).
