PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To heighten the utilization value of instant messaging service to presence without load on a user. SOLUTION: A message server 100 includes a message delivery part 120 between user terminals 400, a user information storage part 140 retaining presence information of each user terminal and a fellow list which is a list of communication parties at the other end of line registered from each user terminal, a user information management part 130 for notifying the presence information of the communication parties at the other end of line entered in the fellow list to the user terminal registering the fellow list, and a presence information updating part 150 for automatically updating the presence information of the user terminal to which a message is transmitted in the user information storing part 140 when the message is received from the user terminal.
