PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic ultrasonic wave probe capable of generating an oblique SH wave with a high frequency without the need for using an excessively thin magnet and converging the generated SH wave to one point. SOLUTION: In the electromagnetic ultrasonic wave probe comprising a plurality of permanent magnets 1, 1 placed via a spacer 2 and a coil 3 placed at a subject side of the permanent magnets 1, 1, a plurality of the permanent magnets 1, 1 are placed so that directions of the magnetic poles of each permanent magnet are in parallel with the coils 3. The direction of the magnetic poles is selected entirely in the same direction or the opposed magnetic poles of the adjacent magnets 1, 1 are selected to be the same polarity poles.
