<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a videoconferencing apparatus which is improved in the adaptivity and convenience when a display of a user image on an opposite side is undesirable by performing image processing for a part allowed to be displayed on the opposite side except a predetermined range image as to an image picked up by a camera and sending the processed image. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing part 11 performs composition processing for putting a prepared background image together with a part of the image picked up by the camera 103 except the predetermined range image, specifically, for example, a part obtained by photographing the background except the face.
