PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiver capable of excluding overlapped registration when automatically registering programs and shortening time to be required for registration. SOLUTION: When a user continuously depresses an automatic M key formed on an operation part 10, a control part 9 extracts n broadcasting channels satisfying a prescribed standard from many receivable broadcasting channels without considering differences in the contents of programs, excluding channels having the same program contents from the extracted n broadcasting channels and finally registers m broadcasting channels smaller than the n broadcasting channels.
