PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quartz unit provided with a microminiaturized tuning fork type bent quartz vibrator having low equivalent series resistance R<SB>1</SB>and a high quality coefficient Q value, a method for manufacturing the quartz unit and a quartz oscillator having high frequency stability of an output signal at the frequency of basic wave mode vibration. SOLUTION: The quartz unit is constituted of a tuning fork type bent quartz vibrator provided with a tuning fork arm and a tuning fork base part, arranging grooves or through holes on the upper and lower surfaces of the tuning fork arm or the tuning fork arm and the tuning form base part, arranging electrodes on the side faces of the grooves or through holes, and arranging electrodes of different polarity on the side face of the tuning fork arm oppositely to the former electrodes so that the figure of merit (FOM) of basic wave mode vibration is larger than that of secondary harmonic mode vibration. Thus the quartz oscillator capable of generating an output signal of the basic wave mode frequency on the basis of relation between the amplification factor of an amplifier circuit and the feedback ratio of a feedback circuit can be highly accurately realized.
