PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for an electrode capable of certainly preventing the inside surface of an enameled metal piece from oxidation, performing electric discharge properly from the metal piece inside surface having a sufficient discharging area, and precluding certainly electric discharge from the outside surface of the metal piece. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method is for the electrode 1 mounted at the tip of an introduced metal piece 2 encapsulated at each end of a glass bulb, wherein each electrode 1 is formed from the enameled metal piece 1 having a hole 5 to admit fitting of the introduced metal piece 2, and the enameled metal piece 1 is irradiated from the side with a laser beam 4 in the condition that the introduced metal piece 2 is fitted in the hole 5, and thereby a joining part 3 between the enameled metal piece 1 and the introduced metal piece 2 is formed in the hollow 5.
