PURPOSE: An arc extinction device of a gas insulated circuit breaker is provided to increase a compressing speed and a gas pressure of a compression room by moving a movable piston to an opposite direction to a compression cylinder. CONSTITUTION: An arc extinction device of a gas insulated circuit breaker includes a compression cylinder(4), a movable piston(10), the first rack(11), the second rack(12), a pinion gear(13), a movable arc contactor(7), a nozzle(8), and a connection rod(9). The compression cylinder(4) is installed within a fixing contactor(3). The movable piston(10) is installed within the compression cylinder(4) in order to form a compression room(6). The first rack(11) is installed at a rod of the compression cylinder(4). The second rack(12) is installed at the movable piston(10). The pinion gear(13) is installed between the first rack(11) and the second rack(12). The movable arc contactor(7) is connected to a fixing arc contactor(2) according to the movement of the compression cylinder(4). The nozzle(8) is fixed to the compression cylinder(4). The connection rod(9) is used for connecting the rod of the compression cylinder(4) to an operator.
