PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems that speech communication can not be performed when a folding portable telephone set is closed and that speech communication without a feeling of incompatibility between its closed state and its opened state can not be performed in the folding portable telephone set. SOLUTION: A telephone transmitter 5 and a telephone receiver 7 are used to perform speech communication similarly in the conventional practice in the opened state where the respective inner side faces of a lower housing part 1 and an upper housing part 2 are separated from each other. A telephone transmitter 9 and a telephone receiver 10 provided on the external side face of the upper housing part 2 are used to be able to perform speech communication in the closed state where the respective inner side faces of the upper and lower housing parts 1 and 2 are brought into close contact and opposite with/to each other. A receiving circuit attaches a proper frequency characteristic to receiving voice signals of the telephone receivers 7 and 10 respectively so as not to provide the feeling of incompatibility.
