PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make image noise inconspicuous. SOLUTION: Noise detection circuits 5 and 8 detect whether the image data outputted from a signal processing circuit 4 have noise. When the image data have the noise, noise reduction circuits 6 and 9 reduce the noise. A contour extraction circuit 7 extracts contour data from the first image data from which the noise has been reduced. An adder circuit 10 put together the contour data and second image data outputted from the noise reduction circuit 9 and outputs the resultant data.
