PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera which suitably controls power applied to a monitor during charging for a strobe flash. SOLUTION: A system controller 100 sets off a through-image on a liquid crystal monitor 10 to assign much power of a cell 118 for charging a strobe 6 at the start of its charging. When either a release button 5, a zooming lever 4 or a menu button 13 is operated to actuate a release, a zoom or a menu function during the charging; the controller sets on the through-image of the monitor 10 immediately without waiting for completing the charging.
