PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin organic electroluminescent element with high reliability. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent element comprises a first electrode formed on a base plate, a thin film layer formed on the first electrode including a light emitting layer which is at least composed of organic compound, a second electrode formed on the thin film layer, and a sealing plate adhered to the base plate by adhesive agent.
