PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent development of cracks in bead glass in cooling in manufacturing an electron gun for a CRT. SOLUTION: This method is used for manufacturing an electron gun for a CRT insulating and holding a plurality of electrodes along the tube axis direction by respectively inserting and fixing projecting parts formed at both ends of the electrodes into/to opposite support surfaces of a pair of heated glass members 21. The method is characterized by previously forming a groove 21g extending along the tube axis direction at a nearly middle part of the support surfaces of the glass member 21.
