PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a subject rejection rate in fingerprint authentication, and to enhance useability for a user in the authentication. SOLUTION: In this fingerprint registration method for inputting a fingerprint data of a finger read by a line sensor for reading a line data in every one line so as to be registered, an outline of the finger is extracted using the fingerprint data of the finger read by the line sensor, and the fingerprint data is registered only when a prescribed line number of the fingerprint data, that is information expressing a shape of the extracted outline, is provided.
