PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the recognition performance with an optical character reader. SOLUTION: This character processor is equipped with a read only memory (ROM) 14 storing character information 23 being characters of recognition objects and a character/color correlation table 25 for memorizing at least one character being a recognition object while correcting with color information corresponding to each of characters, a character recognizing means 22 for recognizing characters inputted by hand based on the character information memorized in the ROM 14, and a color information outputting means 24 for outputting color information 32 correlated with characters recognized by the recognizing means 22 based on the correlation table 25 memorized in the ROM 14.
