PURPOSE: A method for recording data on an optical recording medium is provided to use a recording pulse overlapping a fine adjustment pulse having lower amplitude than a peak level with the peak level and a bias level, thereby suppressing distortion of mark shapes. CONSTITUTION: A device determines whether to use a fine adjustment pulse(S700), and determines a reference level applied to the fine adjustment pulse according to the kind of media(S702). The device determines a level for overlapping with the fine adjustment pulse(S704). The device determines a waveform of the fine adjustment pulse(S706), and determines an amplitude and a period of the fine adjustment pulse. The device generates a recording pulse in reference to a power level, the overlapping level, and the waveform(S708). The device forms mark/space by the recording pulse including the fine adjustment pulse therein(S710).
