PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exterior member of an escalator without welding to fix it on a truss and a handrail support, capable of providing sufficient setting strength of a side surface plate and capable of easily carrying out fine adjustment and fixing work of a setting position at the time of setting the panel type side surface plate, making mounting work of the outside member simple and easy by reducing the number of members to use for fixing and capable of shortening working time. SOLUTION: This exterior member is furnished with the side surface plate set on the side of the truss and the handrail support and an upper part mounting means set on the handrail support to be set on an upper part of the truss with a proper interval and to fix the upper part of the side surface plate on the handrail support, the upper part mounting means is adjustable for a fixing position in the horizontal direction against the truss, and the side surface plate is adjustable for its fixing position in the vertical direction against the truss on the upper part mounting means.
