PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure the safety and reliability in the work by accurately limiting the height of the vertex of a boom. SOLUTION: The height limiting device comprises a height operating part 11 for finding the height of the vertex of the boom, a height displacement quantity operating part 12 for finding the quantity of displacement of the height of the vertex of the boom, a height limiting value memory part 13 for storing a previously set height limiting value, a stop output height operating part 14, and a height limiting determining part 15. In the stop output height operating part 14, the stop output height H<SB>2</SB>is found based on the quantity of displacement of the heightΔH found in the height displacement quantity operating part 12 and the height limiting value H<SB>1</SB>stored in the height limiting value memory part 13. In the height limiting determining part 15, the height of the vertex H found in the height operating part 11 and the stop output height H<SB>2</SB>found in the stop output height operating part 14 are compared; and when the height of the vertex H reaches the stop output height H<SB>2</SB>, the height limiting determining part 15 transmits an operation stop signal for stopping the upward movement of the vertex of the boom to an operation stopping means 23 of the boom.
