Crop characteristics measuring method for agricultural harvester compares spectral values provided by NIR or NIT sensor with reference values held in onboard computer

The measuring method has a part of the harvested crop stream diverted for measurement by a NIR or NIT sensor (21), using a light reflection measurement for providing wavelength spectral values, compared with reference values via an onboard computer (10), for providing data for the harvested crop. The diverted part of the crop is fed to a reception container and removed initially for laboratory analysis for providing the reference values and data for the onboard computer with elimination of the laboratory analysis after provision of a given number of reference values. An Independent claim for a measuring device for determining the characteristics of a harvested crop is also included.
