PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which has: liquid crystal surrounded by a sealing material and held between a pair of substrates; and spacers between these substrates for regulating a gap between the substrates, and in which the predetermined gap between the substrates is accurately and uniformly set to realize display of a desired good image accordingly. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display device in which the spacers 5 for regulating the gap between the substrates are distributed between the substrates while the liquid crystal 6 surrounded by the sealing material S is held between the pair of substrates 1 and 2, a relationship among a substrate thickness when the thickness of the pair of substrates 1 and 2 is the same, thinner substrate thickness t (mm) when different, the particle size d (mm) of the spacer, and the spacer dispersion density n (piece/mm<SP>2</SP>) satisfies the equation of 3.0<n<SP>2</SP>×t<SP>3</SP>×d<9.6.
