A process for producing a puffed snack characterized by comprising extruding a snack dough, holding the thus extruded snack dough at a definite thickness, then gradually reducing the thickness of the snack dough, shaping the thus thinned snack dough into a plural number of continuous yarns of puffed snack dough, twisting together these puffed snack dough yarns, cutting the thus twisted puffed snack dough yarns, and then drying the puffed snack dough thus cut.
