The device for feeding out documents comprises a carriage (2) movable along a track system with a first track (10) extending between a document receiving station for the carriage and a document emission stastion for the carriage. A second track (20) connects to the first track and defines an end position (22) for dumping the documents from the carriage. The carriage has wheels on each side, which are received in and run in guide tracks on opposite sides of the track. A document holder (3) is borne by the carriage and devices are provided for moving the document holder relatively to the carriage at the document emission station. The carriage has a magnet and one or more holder components (72) are provided in the movement path for the magnet for detection of the position of the magnet along the path.
