<p>An apparatus and method for monitoring seal leakage within a fluid system, particularly well suited for high pressure liquid chromatography systems. The apparatus includes a liquid chamber (48) separated by a seal (49) from a wash chamber (58). A supply pump (51) supplies a uniform flow of wash solution from a reservoir (32) to the wash chamber (58). A return line (42) conveys a return flow from the wash chamber (58), including any leakage of fluid from the liquid chamber (48), through return line (42) to the reservoir (32). A detector (37) determines whether there is any differential between the unidirectional flow and the return flow.</p> |
