PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a life estimating method for a conveyor belt in consideration of working environment for the conveyor belt. SOLUTION: Carried objects supplied onto the conveyor belt are carried from one end to the other end of the conveyor belt. In operating the conveyor belt, the length, width and thickness of the conveyor belt a head drop from a starting point of a path for supplying the carried objects onto the conveyor belt to the surface of the belt, a relative speed at a supply starting point between the belt and the carried objects and the maximum grain size of the carried objects are used for finding the gross passing index of the carried objects in accordance with a given expression and estimating the life of the conveyor belt in accordance with the gross passing index of the carried objects.
