A design of water cooled material transport pipes has the pipes cooled by parallel water pipes. To prevent abrasion of the cooling pipes, ceramic strips are fitted between the cooling pipes, with the outer faces of the strips set proud of the upper profile of the cooling pipes. The strips are fitted to the spacer supports of the cooling pipes.
