<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable some different kinds of container to be stacked in many steps and further prevent the containers from being slid in a lateral direction. <P>SOLUTION: A spacer 1 for a container of the present invention is constructed such that the upper surface 14 of the spacer has an upper engaging part 5 for use in restricting a lateral motion of a container 12 by engaging with and supporting a lower edge 18 of the different kind of container 12.
