PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a seamless knitted article having one closed end on a circular knitting machine. SOLUTION: This method comprises the following steps. A step of starting the knitting of the article from the end to be closed, a step of forming a knot for retaining a closure thread by way of a set of needles composed of a plurality of contiguous needles, a step of knitting the closure thread and feeding the closure thread to a preset number of needles so that the closure thread mutually connects needles that are arranged oppositely with respect to the central plane passing through the central region of the set of the contiguous needles, a step of interrupting the feeding of the closure thread to the needles, a step of forming a few rows of knitting by using another thread or threads and at least a part of the needles of the machine, a step of applying traction to the closure thread in order to close the initial knitting end of the article, and a step of continuing the production of the article to the completion thereof.
