PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for much widely developing new materials and applied living radical polymerization by controlling polymerization of a radically polymerizable monomer in the presence of a nitroxide compound, wherein the polymerization of the radical-polymerizable monomer is hard to control molecular weight and the molecular-weight distribution. SOLUTION: The copolymer having an alkoxyamine is produced by dividedly adding at least one styrene derivative or an acrylic acid ester to a polymerization system containing a methacrylic ester in the presence of one or more compound represented by the general formula (3) to (6) (refer to the specification) when polymerizing a copolymer having a unit of a methacrylic acid ester and a unit of a styrene derivative or an acrylic acid ester.
