PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing aminonaphthoquinones. SOLUTION: This method for producing the aminonaphthoquinones comprises reacting a naphthoquinone compound expressed by general formula (I) (lines 2-2' and 3-4 are each a double bond and lines 2-3 and 4-4' are each a single bond, when X<SB>a</SB>is O and Y<SB>a</SB>is H; lines 2-2' and 3-4 are each a single bond and lines 2-3 and 4-4' are each a double bond, when X<SB>a</SB>is H and Y<SB>a</SB>is O; and R<SB>1</SB>is a halogen, a hydrocarbon residue or the like) with a hydroxylamine salt expressed by formula (II): (NH<SB>2</SB>OH)<SB>m</SB>.H<SB>n</SB>A (H<SB>n</SB>A is a mineral acid; and m is 1-3) in the presence of a metal hydroxide to form the aminonaphthoquinone expressed by formula (III) (lines 2-2' and 3-4 are each a double bond and lines 2-3 and 4-4' are each a single bond, when X<SB>b</SB>is O and Y<SB>b</SB>is amino; and lines 2-2' and 3-4 are each a single bond and lines 2-3 and 4-4' are each a double bond, when X<SB>b</SB>is amino and Y<SB>b</SB>is O).
