<p>A metal identifying device characterized by comprising an arc discharge device containing a discharge electrode for causing discharging between it and an object of identification to excite the object for emitting light, an optical fiber for condensing light emitted by the arc discharge device, a spectrometer for measuring the emission spectrum of light condensed by the optical fiber, a personal computer as an identification processing unit for comparing emission spectrum data measured by the spectrometer with the pre-stored emission spectrum data of a plurality of standard samples to identify the type of metal of the object, and a damage processing unit for damaging at least part of the surface of the object.</p> |
