<p>A small diffraction optical element exhibiting excellent productivity in which a plurality of optical functions can be realized simultaneously, its manufacturing method and an optical device. The diffraction optical element (10) comprises a plurality of layers (11-13) each having a double layer member (10a) composed of an optical material. Adjacent layers (11, 12; 12, 13) of the double layer member adhere tightly to each other and refractive index of the optical material is different from each other. Adhering boundary faces (10b, 10c) of adjacent layers are included in the double layer member. Protruding and recessed patterns (14, 15) causing a desired diffracting action for a transmitting light are formed on at least two faces out of three or more faces including the boundary faces and the surface of the double layer member. The protruding and recessed patterns formed on different faces have difference shapes or dimensions with regard to the layer direction of the double layer member.</p> |
