摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device and an image forming apparatus which can improve thin line reproducibility, prevent a rear end void phenomenon, and improve developing ability and image quality by preventing both of image density deterioration and toner deviation at a rear end. SOLUTION: The following configuration is adopted in the image forming apparatus in which the magnetic force of a main magnetic pole for development is intensified, and the napping is shortened for the purpose of the improvement in the thin line reproducibility or the prevention of the rear end void phenomenon. That is, the opening width of the slot of a development sleeve 4 surface is set to be 0.1 (mm) to 0.2 (mm), an average in depth is set to be 0.1 (mm) to 0.2 (mm), and a groove pitch is set to be 0.4 (mm) to 0.6 (mm). Then, the volume averaged grain size of a carrier is set to be 40 (μm) to 60 (μm), comparatively small grain size. Thereby, image density does not run short even when the linear velocity of the development sleeve in a developing region is set to be 1.5 to 2.5 times of a photoreceptor linear velocity, which is comparatively low.
