PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain more energy saving in a separate-type room air conditioner by a method other than the improvement of components. SOLUTION: A cover member 4 provided with an air intake cylinder 3 is mounted to an air intake face 2 of an outdoor unit 1 of this separate-type room air conditioner. The air intake cylinder 3 of the outdoor unit 1 is inserted through a foundation b of a house and installed to be put under the floor. When the outdoor unit 1 is connected to an indoor unit 8 and air-conditioning operation is performed, the outdoor unit 1 sucks air under the floor through the air intake cylinder 3 to perform heat exchange. At this time, since the underfloor temperature is kept lower than the outside air temperature in the summer- time by the thermal insulating effect of the house, the thermal efficiency of the outdoor unit 1 is improved.
