PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound absorbing body which receives and absorbs the sounds from a source for generating the sounds, is improved in its sound absorbing performance and exhibits the high sound absorbing performance even to the sounds of all directions. SOLUTION: An outer shell body 11 formed of a porous plate material to a cylindrical shape is internally provided with at least three block chambers 13 which are formed to a sectorial shape in section by disposing at least three sound impermeable partition plates 12 extending in the axial direction of the outer shell body at equal intervals toward the outer side in the radial direction viewed from the axial direction of the outer shell body so as to extend radially and a sound absorbing material 14 of a soft fiber system is packed into the respective block chambers 13.
