The dispenser has a container in which product packages are stacked one behind another, and a pivotal door (16) which can be moved between closed and open positions to allow product packages to be removed one at a time. A spring biased pushing member (30) acts on the rearmost package to urge the packages forwardly towards the door. A stop is located adjacent the front of the container for arresting the forward movement of the packages, and a lifting element (76), coupled to the dispensing door is operable to lift the packages one at a time to clear the stop and move into a dispensing position, in response to operation of the door. The advancement of the pushing member or the closing movement of the dispensing door may be retarded to limit the rate at which product packages can be removed by repeated opening and closing of the door. The container includes a reloading drawer which can be pulled out of the container for recharging the dispenser with product packages. A catch locks the drawer within the container and release of the catch is prevented when more than a predetermined number of packages are stacked in the dispenser. A shutter arrangement (68) blocks access to packages already in the dispenser when the reloading drawer is pulled out of the container. |
