A mitral valve therapy device (30) effects the condition of a mitral valve annulus (20) of a heart (10). The device (30) includes an elongated member (32) dimensioned to be placed in the coronary sinus (14) of the heart (10) adjacent the mitral valve annulus (20). The elongated member (32) is flexible when placed in the heart (10) in a first orientation to position the device (30) in the coronary sinus (14) adjacent the mitral valve annulus (20) and relatively inflexible when rotated into a second orientation after the device (30) is positioned in the coronary sinus (14) adjacent to the mitral valve annulus (20) to substantially straighten and increase the radius of curvature of the mitral valve annulus (20).
