PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a crimped yarn, capable of producing the crimped yarn having excellent stretch elongation and stretch recovery and good appearance without generating fuzz and dust and industrially advantageous in productivity, equipment, cost, and the like. SOLUTION: This method for producing the crimped yarn is to twist a heat resistant high performance fiber yarn or a high strength polyvinyl alcohol yarn, fix the twist by treating the yarn with a solvent, subsequently untwist the twist- fixed yarn.
