PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of preventing the continuous lighting of a fixing heater at the time of abnormality and preventing dangerous states such as smoke generation and firing by confirming that the OFF/ON of a fixing power relay and the actual output of the power relay of a power source part are not different. SOLUTION: Final power relay signals and the AC output signals of the fixing power relay 31 are compared in a correct/error detection circuit 44, the compared result is inputted to a GA 33 and the correct/error and matching/ non-matching of fixing power relay control signals (instructions) and the actual AC output signals are confirmed. The compared result and 5 V signals for energy saving are multiplied, the value is turned to the final OFF/ON signal of 5 V for the energy saving and the OFF/ON of the start of respective DC power sources 53 is decided. In the case that the result of correct/error detection is a defect, the respective DC power sources 53 in the power source part 23 are not started, the fixing heater is not lighted, and since the respective DC power sources 53 are not started, a system as the image forming apparatus is down.
