The power-assisted steering has a hydraulic pump (1) and an electromagnetic valve (2) for controlling the flow of the hydraulic pressure medium to 2 working chambers (3a,3b) of a servomotor. The pump is driven by an electric motor or the IC engine (14), with an electromagnetic clutch (15) for disengaging the motor from the pump, which can be integrated in the latter.
