A dispenser for dispensing flexible sheet material is comprised of a support for rotatably supporting a roll of sheet material. A feed mechanism is provided for advancing the sheet material from the roll. A motor drives the feed mechanism. A plurality of sensors are spaced along a width of the sheet material for detecitng respective leading edge portion of the sheet material and outputting respective signals indicative thereof. A control device receives the respective signals and controls the motor to drive the feed mechanism to dispense a predetermined length of the sheet material from the point at which a leading edge portion is first detected by one of the plurality of sensors.
