<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that conventional meters are difficult to illuminate a display section uniformly and difficult to make the whole meter compact because of a bulky illumination unit. <P>SOLUTION: The light guide member has a cylindrical section 26 where an annular light entering edge 25 for introducing light is formed at one edge side, a funnel-like widened section 27, the one edge of which is connected to the other edge of the cylindrical section 26, and a light emitting section 28 which extends along a flat surface crossing the axis of the cylindrical section 26 and emits the light on the surface side, and further the meter has a flat plate 29 which is connected to the other edge of the funnel-like widened section 27, and a plurality of light deflecting elements 35 which are formed on at least the back of the flat plate 29 and change each direction in which the light travels. The light which enters the cylindrical section 26 from the annular light entering edge 25, passes through the funnel-like widened section 27 from the annular light entering edge 25 at the total reflection angle depending on the refractive index of a light guide member 12, is introduced to the flat plate 29, and is emitted from the light emitting section 28 with a uniform distribution of intensity by using the light deflecting elements 35 disposed on the back of the light guide member 12. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
