<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor which can be stably used for a long period with excellent CO selectivity and which largely reduces a power consumption. <P>SOLUTION: The gas sensor comprises a first electrode 12 made of a perovskite composite oxide on a surface of an oxygen ion conductive solid electrolyte board 11, and a second electrode 13 formed of a gold. Thus, CO can be sensed with high sensitivity without oxidation catalyst by utilizing a difference of oxygen concentrations between the electrodes, and its operating temperature can be remarkably lowered. The sensor is constituted of a thin film on a heat resistant low thermal conductive board 18, and hence thermal capacity can be largely reduced, and the sensor can be driven via a pulse drive by a battery power source. Further, the influence of a combustible gas, a moisture or a poisoning gas is alleviated by a thin film layer 21 and a porous plate 22 formed on the electrodes, and the sensor can be stably used for a long period of time. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
