<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photosensitive letterpress printing original plate giving a high-grade printed image free from defects such as fog and capable of suppressing contamination of a developer in development. <P>SOLUTION: (1) The photosensitive letterpress printing original plate has at least a support, a photosensitive resin layer, an IR ablation layer and a cover film, wherein the IR ablation layer includes an IR absorbing metallic layer and the metallic layer is disposed in contact with the photosensitive resin layer.
