<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a multi-colored display of one line without any electric nor optical wiring to a position in the one line corresponding to each pixel. <P>SOLUTION: A fiber waveguide type optical element is equipped with a tubular clad part 11, a core part 12 which guides light, and a fluid medium 14 charged in the clad part 11 and modulates the optical path of light scattered from an end surface of the medium 14 by moving the medium 14 in the clad part 11 while guiding the light into the core part 12; and a light transmission film 22 which transmits light of a specified wavelength range is arranged in each of sectioned areas on the outer circumferential surface of the clad part 11, and monochromatic light is guided in from the end part of the clad part 11, scattered by the end surface of the medium 14, and guided out through the light transmission film 22 to make a multi-colored display. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
