PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film transporting device which can recognize the kinds of film masks without carrying out strict position regulation as with the conventional limit witches even if the kinds of the film masks increase. SOLUTION: The film transporting device is provided with a film transporting section 24c by which films are guided and an aperture 24j to which the film mask 88 is mounted. The device is so constituted that film mask 8 is attachably and detachably mounted to the aperture 24j. The film transporting section 24c of the film transporting device is provided with a reflection type optical sensor 91 for irradiating the film mask 8 with light and the film mask 8 is provided with a light reflection surface 92 for reflecting the light emitted from the reflection type optical sensor 91 toward the reflection type optical sensor 91. The device is constituted to recognize that the film mask 8 is mounted in the aperture 24j by detecting the light reflected from the light reflection surface 92 by the reflection type optical sensor 91.
