Disclosed are a windshield wiper blade and a method for the production thereof, according to which a friction-reducing coating (15) is applied at least to some sectors of a basic shape (12, 13, 14) that is made of a rubber-elastic material. Said friction-reducing coating (15) is made of a polymer solution containing an initial polymer which is modified by introducing cross-linkable unsaturated side groups therein. The modified initial polymer is cross-linked after being applied to the basic shape.
