<p>The dyke comprises layers of recycled scrap tires (2) arranged on top of each other to form a tapering core. Tires in a layer are placed adjacent to each other and are offset from tires in a layer above. Gaps and openings in each layer are filled up with sand. Openings in the tires face upwards. Old may be substituted by parts of recycled scrap material from tire production, rubber or plastics which do not damage the environment and have high abrasion resistance. A covering layer of a water resisting material may be applied over the completed dyke structure. Synthetic or natural materials can be woven through the tire openings. The structure may sit on a surface (1) either above or below water level.</p> |
